GRAEME ADAMS

I joined the Club after purchasing a Mk2 MGB in 1977 and have 60 years in grass roots Club motor sport both in administration and as a competitor.

I served as President of the Club for 7 years, have won 4 Club Championships and have been awarded a Black Spinner and Life Membership.

In my time as President I led the running of 2 National Meetings, along with the purchase and development of the original Clubroom at the present location, turning a tilt slab factory into the Victorian MG home.

Like many others I believe the Club has given me a deal more than I have given it.

I own three MGs: added to the ’69 B is a ‘79 Midget known as the “Frog” plus an MGF. I am still competing at Club level motor sport with my daughter Amanda who is having success in the “Frog” and looking forward to my 2 grandsons stepping up to YOW (Youth on Wheels) and learning to drive through the Club’s driving program.

My working life is in two parts, first 30 years in engineering finishing as Manufacturing Manager of a multi-million-dollar company that exported 95% of their production worldwide, and then 25 years in Financial Services with both my own company and in association with a leading Peninsula Accounting office.

In retirement, in addition to Club and family activities, I have taken up golf and still enjoy improving and maintaining my MGs.

By promoting the Foundation, I have the opportunity to showcase and support the Victorian MG Club and its many activities including the Rob Roy Hill Climb.

Our Club is a lifestyle Club that can take up as much time and interest to suit the member; and it’s a Car Club where a great group of people are brought together by the MG marque making the Club a family for almost 2,000 members.
